Entelligant ™ Constructive Systems objective is to promote through demonstration a construction system that has been developed to improve upon in every way present building practices. Specifically, Construction Time, Construction Quality, Construction Safety, Construction Performance, Construction Value and Construction Design are the areas of concentration. The ECS techniques and components may be used in Commercial Construction, Residential Construction and Industrial Construction. Enough innovation has been employed in the construction system so that there is wide Patent protection for the key elements and techniques. In fact, numerous claims have already been filed for in the form of provisional patents. The construction system is comprehensive, that is there is no need for other “construction components” such as a floor or wall or roof system that has to be integrated…it is all included. The construction system utilizes very strong lightweight construction components that have been thoroughly engineered. Keeping the weight down greatly increases earthquake and wind load resistance and keeps the overall construction price down as well. |

Invest in Better Materials
An average home contains about 4,700 pounds of steel and 770 pounds of recyclable plastics. If carefully deconstructed, these materials could be recycled into new products with a net savings (or preservation of embodied energy) of 59 million Btu"s. A shortage of skilled construction labour, identified by 80% of contractors as their most serious problem, will force a transition to automated fabrication processes (a site-built new home in the US consists of up to 80% field labour and 20% material costs). This tells us that you need smart people to assemble stupid materials. Since the people leave and the materials stay around (hopefully) wouldn’t it make more sense to invest in better materials and skip the braniacs on the job site?

UCSD Structural Components Laboratory
